Music inspired by water and fishing

This music swims like fish, stalls in eddy lines, and like water is measured in CFS (cubic fishiness per/second). The following catalogue of songs are inspired by or about water, fishing and interconnectedness in one way or another. Some tell a story, some are the result of exploring the common denominators between water currents and melodic lines, some are just simple fishing tunes.

Guided fly fishing adventures for Trout and Smallmouth Bass

Offering guided fly fishing and spin fishing trips in NC and TN tailored to the individual. Specializing in Float or Walk in/Wade Trips for Trout and Smallmouth Bass. Take a full day float down 4-9 miles of big water in a drift boat with a shore lunch. Float trips are a great way to see a lot of scenery and wildlife as you float down the river fishing. Floats allow you to cover more water and thereby more fish, including waters that cannot be accessed by foot. Or if you feel like a hike, take a wade trip for a more intimate experience with the fish. Backcountry wade trips offer solitude and less pressured fish.

More about Galen Kipar as a fly fishing guide.

~ Galen's obsession with water began in 1979 on the Van Duzen River in upstate California when he was 3 years old. He is originally from Georgia and grew up spotting fish throughout the Savannah River watershed fishing for smallmouth, largemouth and striped bass, and trout in the GA Mountains. While earning a Bachelor's degree in music composition at Brevard College, Galen spent every free moment learning the area's intricacies. He has been fishing and exploring the streams of WNC and East Tennessee since 2000, eight of which he has served as a guide. Fly fishing has taken him to many exciting destinations including Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, California, Vermont, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia, but he says " Most of all I love this area, for the variety of fish and the close proximity to many waters." When he is not guiding he enjoys his home waters, uncharted waters, as well as saltwater fly fishing for redfish, false albacore and tarpon.

When he is not fishing, he composes and performs music, mostly about water and fishing. His love for fishing and music has been featured in magazines and on radio stations throughout the U.S. A couple of his favorites are Midcurrent, Southern Culture on the Fly, KPFA and WNCW. His music can be found on iTunes, Amazon and He says, "Many common denominators can be found when studying the motion of a musical line ~vs~ a river current. There is an interesting parallelism between the currents of water and music, the simplest being they both make people happy and healthy."

Under pressure, Galen is an easy going, patient, instructive guide who enjoys guiding the most skilled fisherman and novices alike.
